The Katara Traditional Dhow Festival, a celebration of Qatar's rich maritime heritage, is set to run from November 28 to December 2 at Katara Beach. This year's festival, spanning five days, promises to be a lively and vibrant celebration of the nation's seafaring traditions.
The event features a diverse range of cultural events, artistic exhibitions, performances, marine spectacles, interactive workshops, and friendly competitions. These highlights serve as a testament to the ongoing commitment to preserve and revitalize the marine cultural heritage of the country.
During last year's event, an array of nations, such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, Iraq, Yemen, India, Turkiye, and Tanzania, participated in the dhow journey. While the official list of countries participating in this year's edition is still forthcoming, attendees can expect a splendid display.
During the 2022 festival, 50 pavilions representing various countries were present. These pavilions displayed marine heritage collections, handicrafts, and traditional professions, introducing attendees to 43 different maritime crafts. The festival also featured marine competitions and hands-on workshops, catering to a diverse audience and ensuring an enjoyable and educational experience for all.
