The aviation industry in Qatar is experiencing significant growth in both the number of air passengers and aircraft movements, as per the latest preliminary airport transport statistics. In October 2023, there was a notable surge in these metrics in comparison to the corresponding period in the previous year.
As per a statement by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority on X, there was a 23.1 percent increase in aircraft movements during October 2023, with a total of 22,686 flights, compared to the same period in 2022. In October 2022, the total number of flight movements was recorded at 18,427.
According to the report, the number of air passengers increased by 27.1 percent in comparison to October 2022, exceeding 4 million passengers. In October 2022, the number of air passengers reported in Qatar was over 3 million.
In October 2023, air cargo and mail volume increased by 10.2 percent, reaching 213,398 tonnes, up from 193,686 tonnes in the same month of the previous year.
In September 2023, there was a notable increase in air passenger numbers, with a rise of 26.1 percent, resulting in nearly 4 million passengers, as compared to September 2022.
