A food sustainability initiative called 'Tadamon' was launched at the International Zone of Expo 2023 Doha. Its primary objective is to reduce food waste and ensure sustainability within the food supply chain, agricultural practices, and environmental and health sectors. The initiative also aims to enhance the recycling of all organic, solid, and plastic wastes in a way that contributes to preserving the environment.
Al Rayan Municipality partnered with the Ministry of Municipality's Food Security Department, General Cleanliness Department, Waste Recycling and Treatment Department, and Hifz Al Naema Center to launch the initiative aimed at reducing food waste.
During the launch event, Jaber Hassan Al Jaber, the Director of Al Rayyan Municipality, expressed that the partnership is focused on curbing food waste, attaining an equitable distribution of food supplies, and developing a more sustainable and socially cohesive system to promote universal food security. This collaboration will also aim to raise awareness about food sustainability and its importance for all sections of society.
