The Department of Zakat Affairs at Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs launched an app offering a number of services to Zakat givers and recipients. The application, which is currently accessible in Arabic on both Android and iOS platforms, will soon be available in English as well.
The announcement was disclosed during yesterday's press conference held at the Ministry's headquarters. During the press conference, Director of the Zakat Affairs Department, Saad Imran Al Kuwari, disclosed that the Zakat app provides a comprehensive range of services, including the calculation of Zakat amounts for assets such as gold, silver, and stock market shares. Furthermore, the app enables users to conveniently pay their Zakat through the Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB).
He said that the app also allows Zakat givers to request the express collection service electronically. "The Collection and Zakat Accounts Section of Zakat Affairs Department will receive the request and communicate with the givers determining the appropriate place and time for them to collect the Zakat amount, said Al Kuwari.
