Kahramaa Converts Qatar Foundation Cooling System into Energy-Effcient

The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has achieved a significant milestone by converting the central cooling stations at Qatar Foundation (QF) into an eco-friendly and energy-efficient system. The conversion, which involved the use of treated water, has resulted in a cooling capacity of 152,000 tonnes.

According to a statement released by Kahramaa yesterday, the cooling system installed at QF's Educational City is recognized as the most energy-efficient. This eco-friendly solution promotes sustainability by aiding in the conservation of natural resources, reducing power consumption, and minimizing the country's carbon footprint.

Under the guidance of Engineer Jamal Youssef Aldarbasi, the Director of District Cooling Management, Kahramaa's team oversaw the transition process. The team emphasized the move's positive impact on the preservation of natural resources, decreased electricity usage, and reduced carbon footprint.

These primary stations boast a cooling capacity surpassing 152,000 tonnes. They are outfitted with cutting-edge equipment, intelligent control and monitoring systems, and high-energy efficiency. These systems are integrated with a control system, with power centers located in Education City, providing enhanced flexibility in operation and control.
