Doha, Qatar: Saad bin Ali Al Kharii, the Chairman of Qatar Tourism, has announced that Qatar welcomed over three million tourists in 2023. This notable achievement confirms Qatar's status as an exceptional and sought-after tourist destination.
During the 26th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, held on December 14th in Doha, Al Kharji highlighted Qatar's role as the host of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the remarkable success in organizing the event. He emphasized that the experience gained from hosting the World Cup could be leveraged at the Arab level to boost the tourism sector's development.
He emphasized the significance of Qatar's role in hosting several prestigious global events this year, including the 2023 Geneva International Motor Show, which held outside Switzerland for the first time, the Kiteboarding World Cup, and the Expo 2023 Doha for Horticulture. Current, Qatar is gearing up to host several major events, including the AFC Asian Cup 2023 and the Web Summit conference.
