Doha, Qatar: The 'Stand with Palestine' initiative, led by Qatar Foundation’s Qatar Academy Doha (QAD) students, raised QR20m following a successful event at the Education City Stadium on 15 December. The fundraising campaign, intended to aid the Palestinian community, drew over 27,000 individuals to the Qatar 2022 venue. Notably, several celebrities and students participated in a friendly match between Qatar and Palestine.

Minister of Sports and Youth H E Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali, Vice-Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation (QF) HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, and other dignitaries attended the event.

Students from Qatar Academy Doha (QAD), a part of QF's Pre-University Education, initiated the fundraising drive with the objective of engaging the local community and providing them with an opportunity to show their solidarity with the people of Palestine.

The funds generated from the sale of football match tickets will be directed towards supporting relief efforts for Palestinians. Furthermore, for individuals interested in contributing beyond the ticket price, a dedicated online link has been established in partnership with Qatar Charity, providing direct access to official channels dedicated to relief efforts in Palestine.

The initiative encompassed an array of events, activities, and performances. To commence the event, artists Nasser Al Kubaisi, Dana Al Meer, Nesma Emad, and Hala Al Imadi presented a musical act with a Palestinian theme, captivating the audience with their renditions of "Palestine is Arab" and "My Homeland." The event also showcased a stunning display of illuminated drones, and a prize draw conducted during the half-time of the match.
