On Wednesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) urged for the advancement of access to the Gaza Strip to help those trapped in the area. According to WHO, the quantity of relief presently arriving at Gaza is insufficient, particularly in the northern region, and it arrives too late to help those in need, stating “too little…too late.”

Sean Casey, WHO Emergency Medical Teams coordinator affirmed that there is a desperate requirement for humanitarian aid, especially in the form of food, throughout the Gaza Strip, particularly in the northern regions.

Dr. Rik Peeperkorn, WHO representative for occupied Palestinian Territory (oPt) conveyed his concerns about the intensification of hostilities in the south, explaining that moving staff and supplies "safely and swiftly" had been compromised, "as deconfliction is required for any moves across Gaza, including the south - often leading to delays." Alongside the requirement for additional vital supplies in Gaza, expedited movement of both humanitarian aid and personnel within the area was also deemed crucial "so that we can reach people wherever they are", Dr Peeperkorn explained.

As per the Gaza Ministry of Health, 23,084 people have been martyred in the enclave, of which 70% were women and children. Over 59,000 people have also been wounded, which is about 2.7% of Gaza's population.
