According to the Palestinian Ministry of Education, 4,156 students were martyred and 7,818 were wounded since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on October 7. In a statement released by the Ministry, it was reported that, as a result of the ongoing aggression, more than 4,119 students have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip. 7,536 students got injured. In the West Bank, 37 students have been martyred, 282 students injured and 85 being held in custody.
The Ministry also stated that 221 teachers and administrators were martyred, and 703 others were injured in the Gaza Strip, whilst five were injured, and more than 71 were arrested in the West Bank.
The Palestinian Ministry of Education revealed that a total of 278 public schools and 65 other schools associated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) were subjected to bombing and vandalism in the Gaza Strip. Of these, 83 schools were significantly damaged, and 7 were completely destroyed. Additionally, 38 schools in the West Bank were invaded and vandalized.
According to reports, Israeli military operations have impacted approximately 90 percent of public schools and education buildings in Gaza, resulting in both direct and indirect damages. Shockingly, nearly 29 percent of the school buildings have been rendered non-operational due to either severe or total destruction. The crisis has forced 133 public schools to serve as shelter centers for the affected population in the Gaza Strip.
