'Plantoir, Blue' Installation Selected for Displaying at Expo 2023 Doha by Qatar Museums

Doha, Qatar: Qatar Museums recently revealed that 'Plantoir, Blue' has been chosen to be exhibited at Expo 2023 Doha, which is ongoing at Al Bidda Park.

In a statement, Qatar Museums announced the selection of 'Plantoir, Blue' for the International Horticultural Expo as an exemplary display of Qatar's impressive collection of both local and international artists whose works are showcased throughout the country's public spaces.

Plantoir is a French noun used to describe a pointed hand-tool that is used to make holes in the ground for planting seeds or young plants.

In 2001, the American Pop Art master, Claes Oldenburg, a Swedish-born American sculptor renowned for his public art installations, which frequently showcase oversize replicas of commonplace objects, created the art installation of Plantoir, which was fabricated from aluminum, fiber-reinforced plastic, and steel. The installation stands more than 23-feet tall and weighs around 2,300 pounds.
