Qatar Airways Successfully Lands its Inaugural Flight in Indonesia's Medan

On Monday, January 15th, Qatar Airways launched its first flight from Doha to Medan, landing at Kualanamu International Airport. This marks the airline's third destination in the Republic of Indonesia.

The commencement of a new route to Medan represents a significant milestone in the relationship between Qatar and Indonesia, which is further cemented by the conclusion of the Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture.

The recently introduced direct service is a noteworthy addition to the airline's already impressive repertoire of over 40 weekly flights to Jakarta and Bali.

The HE Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library, represented the State of Qatar at the event's inauguration.

This event was held in collaboration with the 'Years of Culture' initiative and marked the successful completion of the Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture. The objective of this initiative was to enhance awareness of Qatar as a hub for arts, culture, tourism, education, and sports. Additionally, it aimed to celebrate the unique aspects of Indonesian culture and establish sustainable partnerships through more than 50 programs across both countries.

Marking the inaugural event, passengers of flight QR966 departing from Hamad International Airport (DOH) were greeted with cupcakes and music at the departure gate. The distinguished officials onboard the flight were welcomed at Kualanamu International Airport with a water cannon salute, alongside high-ranking government officials and dignitaries.
