Qatari Residents Calling For Cancellation of OneRepublic Concert in Doha

People in Qatar are calling for the cancellation of  OneRepublic's upcoming concert in Qatar and demanding refunds over the band's silence on the Gaza conflict. The concert is scheduled to conduct on 1 February 2024 at the Hotel Park Doha, Qatar.

The widespread opposition against the upcoming event has put the concert organizers under pressure. Many are expressing their opposition through social media accounts.

Numerous individuals are requesting refunds and calling for the cancellation of the concert due to the band's recent statement, which neglected to address the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and instead, the band condemned the Palestinian resistance's attack on Israel.

The band clearly stated on Instagram on 11 October 2023 that “The terror unfolding over the last few days in Israel has left us crushed and heartbroken. The magnitude of such devastation and senselessness is incomprehensible. The mind isn't equipped to process this kind of evil. The things being done are horrific. They are sickening and savage and they are being celebrated. Let's be perfectly clear, this is terrorism. We as a band could never condone what was done to those innocent people. Our hearts are with the victims and the countless lives shattered by this nightmare.”

In a recent interview with an Israeli news outlet, Ryan Tedder, the lead vocalist and frontman of the band, expressed an "affinity towards Israel" despite not being Jewish. He also made it clear that he has no intention of boycotting the country, despite the actions of other artists.

All these actions of the band led to Qatar residents’ demand for cancellation of the event.  As of now, the organizers have not issued any statement or cancellation notice for the February 1 concert.
