The national football team of Iran has arrived in Doha to take part in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, which is scheduled from 12 January to 10 February 2024. The three-time champions, are in Group C with Palestine, Hong Kong and the UAE. Having last won the title in 1976, this time they are eager to break their trophy drought.
Iran is the second-highest-ranked Asian team in the FIFA ranking. The team's forward, Karim Ansarifard, expressed his optimism for a robust performance from Iran in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 tournament.
After the Iran team’s arrival at Doha, Ansarifard said “It's a tough group and we respect all the opponents we will face. We will analyse our group teams in the coming days. I think each game has its own difficulty but we will go well prepared."
"We know how important this tournament is for our country and for our fans. We will try our best to make them happy," he added.
Iran is scheduled to play against Palestine in their inaugural match on January 14 at the Education City Stadium.
