Qatar: The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has designated 189 mosques nationwide for observing I'tikaf during the last ten nights of the holy month of Ramadan in the year 1445 Hijri.
In a released statement, the ministry encourages individuals interested in partaking in these sacred nights to familiarize themselves with the guidelines of I'tikaf as prescribed by Sharia law. This practice should be in accordance with the Prophetic Sunnah and observed within the specified mosques recognized as public places of worship, equipped with amenities tailored for I'tikaf devotees.
Individuals seeking to engage in I'tikaf must be at least 18 years of age; otherwise, they should be accompanied by guardians. It is imperative to prioritize personal hygiene, diligently maintain cleanliness within the designated I'tikaf areas of the mosques, and safeguard mosque property, recognized as a significant endowment for the Muslim community. The ministry underscores the importance of refraining from disruptive behaviors such as engaging in loud conversations that may disturb fellow worshippers.
