Doha, Qatar: Msheireb Downtown Doha has set a Guinness World Records title for having the “Largest Underground Car Park” with a capacity of 10,017 spaces.
Designed with a focus on human convenience, the district locates car parking and building services underground. This approach helps maintain light traffic on the streets, creating pedestrian-friendly walkways. The design enhances connectivity throughout the city, with underground basements stretching across the entire district.
Featuring six levels and accommodating 10,017 vehicles, the underground parking system caters to residents, tenants, and visitors. Equipped with an intelligent parking system, drivers are directed to available spaces, ensuring a smooth and stress-free parking experience.
“We wanted to reclaim outdoor spaces for the community by removing vehicles from the streets around Msheireb,” said Eng. Ali Al Kuwari, CEO of Msheireb Properties. “The Guinness World Records for the Largest Underground Car Park is a testament to our dedication to creating a sustainable and innovative city district that prioritises the well-being of our community. By locating car parking and building services underground, we enabled architects to design attractive buildings with active façades on all sides,” he added.
