Doha, Qatar: Qatar Museums (QM) has announced permanent changes to the operating hours of its primary cultural institutions. These modifications include extended hours every Thursday and a weekly closure to enhance public accessibility, promote evening events, and ensure optimal maintenance of the collections.
The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum (QOSM), and Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art are the museums scheduled to implement these changes starting from July 1, 2024.
The new schedule provides increased opportunities for citizens, residents, and visitors to engage with the varied offerings of Qatar Museums, encompassing permanent collections, temporary exhibitions, and public programs.
The introduction of a one-day weekly closure is intended to support crucial maintenance, staff development, and installation of new exhibits, thereby upholding exceptional standards while minimizing disruptions to visitors.
