Very Hot and Dry Wind Expected in Qatar for Two Weeks


Doha, Qatar: Yesterday, 14 July 2024, the seasonal hot, intense, dry wind season, known as ‘Simoom,’ began and will last for two weeks, according to Qatar Calendar House (QCH).

This wind, affecting the Arabian Peninsula, brings hot and dry conditions, stirring up sand and dust while raising temperatures. This monsoon wind in the region, expected to persist until July 29. 

The term 'Simoom' originates from its harmful impacts on plants and humans, including visibility problems and the risk of sunstroke due to extreme hot temperature.
