Gaza Chief Yahya Sinwar Named as the New Political Leader of Hamas

Yahya Sinwar, the Gaza Strip chief, was appointed as the new political leader of Hamas on Tuesday, following the assassination of the former leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Iran.

In a statement, Hamas declared, "The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announces the selection of leader Yahya Sinwar as the head of the political bureau of the movement."
