In a recent report by the United Nations, it was revealed that a staggering two-thirds of the buildings in the Gaza Strip have been either damaged or destroyed since the Gaza war began in October 2023.
According to UNOSAT's latest assessment based on satellite imagery, a total of 151,265 structures have been impacted in the region.
The assessment further detailed that 30% of these structures were completely destroyed, 12% severely damaged, 36% moderately damaged, and 20% possibly damaged, making up approximately 63% of all structures in Gaza.
The impact on civilian infrastructure is substantial, with thousands of homes and crucial facilities suffering damage. The assessment, conducted by comparing satellite images taken from May 2023 onwards with those from July 6 of the current year, highlights the widespread destruction caused by the conflict.
The Gaza health ministry reported that over 39,480 individuals have lost their lives since the commencement of the war in October 2023.
