Senior Hamas Figure, Samer al-Hajj, Killed by Israeli Strike in South Lebanon

An Israeli attack killed a senior figure from Palestinian armed group Hamas in Lebanon on Friday evening.

The airstrike occurred on the southern outskirts of Sidon, a Lebanese port city positioned around 60 kilometers from the border.

The individual killed was Samer al-Hajj, a security officer associated with Hamas, working in the nearby Palestinian refugee camp, Ain al-Hilweh.

Sources suggest that Samer al-Hajj’s bodyguard sustained serious injuries.

For the past ten months, the Israeli military has been engaging in operations against Hamas members, as well as the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah and other factions in Lebanon.
