Taking Photos of accidents illegal in Qatar, Says Official

Doha, Qatar: The General Directorate of Traffic has clarified the legal consequences of unauthorized individuals taking photos of accidents. Traffic Investigation Officer Capt Khalid Abdullah al-Kuwari highlighted that capturing such images is subject to imprisonment and fines. He said this while talking to Qatar TV recently.

Furthermore, Capt al-Kuwari emphasized that reporting a traffic violation through Metrash only requires capturing the license plate and car damage, with further procedures carried out by traffic authorities.

As per Article 333 of the Penal Code, intruding into someone's private life without consent may result in imprisonment for up to two years and/or a fine of up to QR10,000.

However, individuals involved in a traffic accident are allowed to capture and upload evidence on Metrash 2 for documentation purposes.

Capt al-Kuwari mentioned that filming accidents with good intentions for awareness could still have legal consequences, especially if it harms the victims.
