Earth to Get a Temporary Second Moon From 29 Sept; Will be Visible Until 25 Nov

Earth is set to welcome a temporary "mini-moon", as a small asteroid named 2024 PT5 is poised to enter our planet's orbit. This celestial entity will orbit Earth for about two months, from September 29 to November 25.

The detail of the phenomenon published in the Research Notes of the American Astronomical Society highlights the dynamic nature of our solar system and the intriguing events it produces.

Although 2024 PT5 will technically function as a moon during its brief stay, observers should manage their expectations; the asteroid is composed of dull rock and will not be visible to the naked eye. Even individuals with binoculars or home telescopes may find it difficult to detect.
