Students in UDST Create Solar Powered Car to Participate in Sasol Solar Challenge 2024

Doha, Qatar: University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) is set to make its mark on the global stage as it participates in the Sasol Solar Challenge 2024, an esteemed international competition taking place this week in South Africa.

A dedicated team from the College of Engineering and Technology designed and built a solar-powered car to participate in this esteemed event.

The UDST team focused on maximizing solar photovoltaic efficiency, enabling their innovative car to generate enough energy for up to seven hours of daily driving. After careful consideration of various designs, the team ultimately selected the lightest model that promised the highest energy output.

All components of the car, including its chassis, mechanical supports, suspensions, and external body, were crafted on campus by student engineers using a combination of steel and lightweight fiber. Additionally, the car's electrical, braking, and safety systems were meticulously designed and assembled at UDST, adhering to international standards set by the College of Engineering.
