The Royal Commission for the Saudi Governorate of Al-Ula has discovered the Bronze Age village of Al-Natah in the Khaybar Oasis, western Saudi Arabia.
This finding, part of the "Khaybar through the Ages" initiative, offers insights into the shift from nomadic to sedentary urban life during the late third millennium BCE.
Hidden beneath basalt rocks, Al-Natah features evidence of social structure with designated zones for residential and funerary activities. Dating from approximately 2400 to 2000 BCE, it likely supported a population of around 500 across 2.6 hectares.
This discovery results from collaboration between several organizations, advancing the understanding of Saudi Arabia's historical heritage.
