Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) announced that astronomical winter will begin on December 21, coinciding with the Winter Solstice, which signifies the end of autumn.
This occurs due to the Earth's 23.5° axial tilt and results in the shortest day and longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
In today's weather update, Abu Samra recorded a low of 7°C, while Doha reached 15°C.
